Story map
Title – The Red Phantom - Salvation
Concept – in 1937, Frank Hawville and his wife are returning from a party, where they are followed home by gangsters where he and his wife are viciously beaten. During the attack his wife is killed and miraculously Frank survives and awakens to find himself in Times Square surrounded by destruction. As the years pass Frank learns that he has the power to draw scarlet flames from his body containing the powers of purgatory allowing him to destroy darkness in people. This power allowed him to survive that beating all those years ago, and he now works at the new york library where he uses his job to access public and private records to research the events around his wife’s death … and at night uses his powers to help him find who made that attempt on his life, who murdered his wife and why they were targeting him… taking on the title as “the Red Phantom” to protect his identity.
Characters –
James Hawville/the Red Phantom - Protagonist:
Frank Hawville was raised in Brooklyn, born in 1910. Went to college where he met the love of his life, Kimberley sanders and they got married in 1932 when they were 22. Frank was hired by the New York Library where he became a researcher for the public sector. In 1937, Frank and Kimberley were attacked. After those events Frank found that he has the power to purge the darkness in people’s hearts, and to wipe out all evil with the “Flames of Purgatory” a power that awakened the night of his wife’s death. He can surround his hands in the flames and use them to attack, and if he surrounds his body the allow him to travel at incredible speeds.
His power was designed for a specific reason; it is to destroy the 7 sins that walk across the world, corrupting man and their souls. His flames can destroy both the body and soul of the sins and their holders.
Conflict
The characters main conflict of the story is how far he would go for revenge, would he destroy those who destroyed his life and family and become like them or prove that he can rise above them and become a true hero.
The Seven Syns – Antagonist:
Luxuria – The first of the syns, Born in London in the 19th century Karl Lux was a gentleman who lived a life of luxury. He did so by seducing wealthy old women and men and taking their inheritance. The reason he was never caught because he seduced and corrupted higher ups in the government to pull his way through society. When he was finally caught the demon of lust came to him, offering eternal life and the power to corrupt people’s minds and bodies, creating illusions in their mind to seduce them to his way of thinking and belief’s.
Gullia – the second of the syns. His age is unknown, a chief of a cannibal warrior tribe, would destroy his enemy’s and eat their bodies. His power and pure evil drew the demon of gluttony to him, offering him the power of eternal life and giving him the power to eat people’s souls and take on their memories and strengths.
Avaritia – The youngest and third syn, Eva Freeland was an investment banker who stole people’s money and added it to her own money, stealing from all who trusted her it didn’t matter who. The demon of greed liked her and offered her his power, eternal life and the ability to turn items to gold and the ability of telepathy, to steal another’s thoughts.
Socordia – the fourth syn, the holder of the demon of sloth. Her age and true name are unknown and she only wakes for a day every year. Her powers include eternal life and the power to enter dreams to monitor entire country’s thoughts at a time. She communicates to the other syns through their dreams.
Ira – the fifth of the syns, a Norse warrior from the 6th century. His family were killed during a raid and his wrath reached such a limit that he slayed every man woman and child of the attacking village. The demon of wrath witnessed this and gave him the power to slay his enemies without fear and use great strength and give great strength to others under his command and the gift of battling forever with eternal life.
Invidia – the sixth syn, Ivy Genevieve, a woman who would look upon others and want to be like them, would even go so far to alter her appearance and kill them to take their place. The demon of envy offered her eternal life and the ability to mimic others from their appearance to their abilities.
Superbia – the final and seventh syn. A woman of unknown age has been around as long as the other syns. Her power surpasses all the others and can reach unknown limits; her pride allows her to create anything to her will, even events and powers. It is unknown how she met her demon, but they have been partners longer than any other and she is the only being with enough influence to control the syns.
Theme
The theme of my movie is revenge and how far one individual would go to get it. There is another theme as well, you can destroy the darkness in others but are you able to destroy it in your own heart.
POV
The film is shot with a first person narrative, with the hero narrating the movie like a past event in his life.
Setting
The film is set in New York, Brooklyn within the city.
Plot
1st act
· Intro to Red Phantom and his back story.
· Shows Phantom taking down street gangs that belong to the syns.
· Is introduced to the first of the syns and brutally kills lust and his gang a witness sees him and flees in terror causing the phantom to question his actions.
2nd act
· The phantom beats the first of the syns, but is jumped by two at the same time and is defeated.
· He flees to the hospital and destroys his costume believing he has no chance against the other syns.
· The syn of wrath comes to find him and slaughters everyone in the hospital, frank uses his power to destroy him saying he is no longer the phantom but he will stand up to the syns to protect the world from their darkness.
· He heads into the night and lets his powers take over his body, his power creates a cloak around his body giving him a new costume… He becomes the Scarlet Angel.
3rd act
· He head to the headquarters of syns. Still beaten and battered from his fight with wrath. He takes down 3 of the syns easily, but not without injuries.
· He heads to the top to meet pride. After a long fight pride flees and goes into hiding with envy and gluttony.
· Scarlet angel then stands atop the building victorious, looking down upon his city relaxing for the first time, he looks into the sky and says a few words to Kimberley in his head. He looks towards the screen and dives of the building diving towards the city and the camera blacks out.
Credits
4th act
· Pride, envy and gluttony are kneeling before an unknown force. A man in a suit walks out claiming that “he” Is unhappy and slays pride with a single blow. He looks to the other two saying that they need to start again he is joined by three others who are on horses and tells them it’s time.
